Mac game publisher MacSoft hasn’t officially announced its release, but the company acknowledged to MacCentral that it’s now shipping Beach Head 2002, a sequel to one of the company’s best-selling casual games.

Developed by Digital Fusion, Beach Head 2002 is based on an early arcade game concept, the shooting gallery. Beach Head 2002 is updated, of course, for more modern tastes. This game puts you inside a command post that you must defend from enemy invasion. The longer you hold on to your post and the more enemies you defeat, the higher score you get.

To that end, you have four basic weapons in your arsenal: an M60 machine gun, an anti-aircraft gun, an anti-tank cannon and the Vulcan gun. Each level presents you with a sufficient amount of ammunition to defeat your enemies. You’ll also have a limited number of heat-seeking missiles, flares and your trusty .45 cal. handgun to defend yourself.

Wave after wave of enemy invaders come charging at your bunker, on foot, in armored personnel carriers, dropped from the sky as paratroopers, in tanks, fighter jets and in helicopters. You have to carefully manage your ammunition and maintain your own defenses by destroying your foes before they get too close.
